The aquatic center is a state-of-the-art facility spanning 36,000 square feet, and it received an investment of $12+ million. $8M of the funds came from the penny for progress tax led by former Mayor Carl Redus. $4M came from the GFPB sales tax and philanthropic dollars raised during Mayors Debbie Hollingsworth and Shirley Washington administrations. Inside, visitors will find a range of amenities to enjoy. These include a thrilling two-story water slide, a diving board for those seeking an adrenaline rush, a safe and shallow wading pool designed specifically for children, a therapy pool for relaxation and rehabilitation, and even party rooms for hosting special events.
